If you have ever bet on sports and had a really nice run, then you understand what I am talking about. Say, for instance, you go 4-1 on a Saturday, picking 5 strong plays off of a board full of games. You have a bunch of profit and you have a head full of dreams about all of the money you could be making. Then, all of a sudden, Sunday comes along and there aren’t any good bets. You make a sports betting picks anyway because, heck, you are already up. In sports betting, you must only bet on those games that you have capped well and capped hard. Even the best don't beat the NFL point spread all of the time.

Another issue for people who bet on sports is that they try to analyze games too hard. Numbers are great and computer systems have really helped out in the gambling world, but it is possible to look at too many stats. There are a few times when you need to step back from the stats and follow your instincts. Your first instinct, as a handicapper is usually a good one. If you have bet on sports for a number of years, then you know what a good bet looks like. That doesn’t mean that you will hit every one, but you will hit enough of them to make for some profit.

All in all, sports betting is not the most difficult thing in the world. It might seem that way at the beginning, but it gets easier. You will begin to notice patterns in games and leagues. You will see picks play out in your head before the game has even finished. It is just important that you take account of what you are doing as a handicapper so that you don’t end up repeating mistakes that could have otherwise been easily avoided.
